The food was really good, but I have some notes. I was passing through on my way to Sacramento, so I wanted to make a pit stop. I was intrigued with the photos online, and had to try it. Upon arrival, the location was nice but the restaurant was huge & empty. Although no one was dining in, the tables were dirty. I wasn’t sure why no one had cleaned them if it was empty & slow, so first red flag for me. The 2nd one was the fact that I was expecting something a bit more upscale because of the prices. My whole meal consisted of a teriyaki plate, spicy chicken plate, dragon roll, veggie tempura, & a miso soup. All of that was about $80 and I would have liked to receive an actual dine-in experience. The service was just straight forward and not much of an interaction. Instead you order in line like at a fast food place and wait for your order. Everything also came in a to-go container (not sure if I like this or not), but it just seemed cheap to me. Once I received my food I looked at my sushi portions, as a lot of people in the reviews mentioned not having any meat inside. In my case, I felt like my sushi was perfect & presentable. All of the food was delicious and probably some of the best Japanese food that I’ve had. I would definitely return if passing through again, but would probably just do take-out for the lack of service and not really being a dine-in restaurant. It seems that they have another location, so I’m wondering if that is also the same atmosphere.

I came in this past Monday and was very amazed with this establishment. The food was delicious, flavorful, and made fresh to order, while still being prepared quickly without sacrificing quality. The dining area was spacious and very clean. The best part was the customer service and the friendliness of the staff, who greeted me very warmly upon entering the restaurant. I was particularly very impressed with the Asian girl that had blond hair who was quite cute. She had outstanding customer service and a beautiful smile. This was my first time here and she made me feel welcome and at home right away. Her positive energy and aura was spot on. Would definitely come back and tell all my friends/family about this place! 5/5 stars

I recently had the pleasure of dining there, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience. The highlight of my meal was their famous #19 Spicy Crispy Chicken. This dish is an absolute must-try! The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. The spice level could have been a little more spicy besides that it was just right, adding a delightful pinch, without overwhelming the palate. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors, and the portion size was generous, ensuring you get your fill. Another standout dish was their side order of #48 Vegetable Tempura. The assortment of vegetables was fresh and perfectly cooked, encased in a light, crispy batter that was neither too oily nor too heavy. Each piece was a bite of perfection, with the natural flavors of the vegetables shining through. It was a fantastic complement to the spicy crispy chicken and added a nice balance to the meal. The staff at Kikku Japanese Food deserve special mention. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The service was prompt and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and were happy to provide recommendations and answer any questions. Their friendly demeanor and professionalism truly set the tone for a memorable visit. From the delicious #19 Spicy Crispy Chicken and the perfectly cooked #48 Vegetable Tempura to the outstanding service, Kikku Japanese Food exceeded my expectations. Whether you're a local or just passing through Downtown Fresno, make sure to stop by and indulge in their fantastic offerings. You won't be disappointed! Update 11/14/24: Had the #3 downtown spicy chicken, which has the spice I loved. Also, with a 3-piece side of zucchini. Can’t forget about those eyes either! Thanks for the recommendation.

Great food and consistent quality every time. My go-to order is the #8 Downtown Spicy Chicken — full of flavor and always cooked right. Service is solid and the downtown location is convenient. Definitely one of my favorite spots for Japanese food.
