Summary: They need bigger portions for the price, but otherwise an enjoyable place for a nicer or celebratory meal that can accommodate big groups if needed (though we were a party of 3). The food was creative and tasty, showing good range of the kitchen. However, the vegetables were all presented the same way, despite being good portions. The portion sizes were too small for the price. The salmon was just laughably tiny. Look at the picture. The server explained that by saying it was “shareable”, claiming it was 5oz (it definitely wasn’t), but wouldn’t “shareable” mean larger? The other two meats were well executed but a little small. Food: 3/5 The service was solid, except it took a while to get someone to explain the menu at first, since it’s not clear how you’re intended to order. Service: 4/5 The atmosphere was quite nice. But it’s also a little generic/flat. Needs something unique that isn’t just “big modern space with exposed brick and accent lighting”. Atmosphere: 4/5 I might come back if I need a nice place right in Harvard square, but there are so many places to try in Boston first.

Stopped by Alden & Harlow recently for a family dinner and really enjoyed it. The vibe is lively but still relaxed, and it’s a great spot to catch up with friends. We shared a bunch of small plates and everything was creative and packed with flavor definitely not your typical menu. Service was friendly and helpful with recommendations, which made it even better. A little on the pricier side for drinks and didnt feel worth it, but it's okay for a nice night out.

Such a great place for brunch! The Brussels sprouts and potatoes were definite standouts and absolutely worth ordering. The broccoli was fine, but it didn’t quite compare to some of the other dishes. The French toast was a highlight—rich, flavorful, and totally satisfying. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, making it a perfect spot to linger with friends. I’d definitely suggest ordering several small plates and sharing them around the table so everyone can try a bit of everything. Just keep in mind that the portions are on the smaller side, so plan accordingly if you’re really hungry. Overall, a fun and tasty brunch experience.

We had brunch with a friend and it was a great experience. We could only sit at the bar with our reservation but it was a fun vibe. We ordered a bunch of stuff family style but we really enjoyed ourselves. They messed up my order which I asked for without bacon but they remade it. Sweet server and no complaints honestly. We had a great time!

We had such a great experience at Alden & Harlow! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The New York Strip with eggs Benedict was cooked perfectly — tender, flavorful, and paired beautifully with the rich, creamy hollandaise. The Avocado Toast was fresh and vibrant with just the right balance of textures and seasoning. And the star of the table? The Big Cinnamon Bun! It was warm, soft, and perfectly sweet — easily one of the best we’ve had. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was attentive, and the food exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be back. A special thank you to Makayla for her amazing service! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out perfectly. We really appreciated her positive attitude and attention to detail — it did not go unnoticed!
