Kenneth Baker a month agoFirst time at Shaker and Spear and won't be the last. Service was attentive and helpful. Food was fantastic. Drinks were delightful. The only complaint is that they were out of the whole fish entree option at 630pm, which I guess that means it was really good and popular. Otherwise, excellent place for fine dining.
Cynth B. 4 months agoWe dined here after flying in from Portland to enjoy Seattle for the day before flying back home in the evening after an event. Shaker + Spear made a strong impression. The menu is thoughtfully balanced. Seafood took center stage in our meal. The Ora salmon and Hokkaido scallops were standouts. Impeccably cooked. The sides also deserve attention. The roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts arrived generously portioned, crisp at the edges and tender within, layered with deep, savory flavor. An interesting use of nuts added texture and nuance throughout the meal. The herby, citrus-forward focaccia with whipped butter was particularly memorable and is worth ordering on its own. We couldn't finish everything, unfortunately. Service struck the right balance. Attentive, efficient, and unobtrusive. A slightly unstable table at first seating was a minor misstep, quickly and graciously resolved with a nearby reseating. Overall, highly recommend dropping by for dinner.
Hon Lam 7 months agoSuper friendly staff that will greet you and seat you promptly. Very quick with the water and coffee too even for a weekend brunch crowd. If you want you can sit at the bar and see the chefs prepare your meal. Lots of good options for the brunch, I recommend the Southwest Hash and get duck on top. Strong coffee with lots of other beverages options including fresh juice. Very attentive staff that will kindly refill your ☕ asap. Thanks for fulfilling all my breakfast needs
J M (Texas Foodie) 3 months agoWent with coworkers here for dinner. Nice looking restaurant but that was it. To be honest, other than the sorbet I got for desert I didn’t really like anything and neither did my coworkers. We started with the crab cake, hamachi and one other appetizer. The crab cakes aren’t crab cakes but something like a crab salad you put on lettuce cups. Strange and quite honestly not very tasty. The hamachi crudo was just plain bad. It didn’t look appetizing and was very lemony with some weird crispy noodle on top. The third appetizer was the shrimp that were overcooked and on a curry sauce I didn’t like. I got the scallops for my entree. While they themselves were good the scallops and the rest of my plate was warm if that. The turnips and turnip purée weren’t good. Most of us got desert which for me was the highlight. I got the mango and raspberry that was really good. A co worker got the crème brûlée that was chocolate I guess. She took one bite and said it was awful. I felt sorry for her because crème brûlée is her favorite. I forgot to mention we got the mushroom side which was basically deep fried mushroom ‘ears’. It honestly looked terrible when it was brought out. We were split. I thought they tasted ‘ok’ but two coworkers said they tasted like ‘fried dirt’. Service was friendly but slow and we had to ask for empty appetizer plates to be removed.
P 3 months agoFood menu has been updated recently, which is nice, but just a heads up that some of the popular items from older reviews might no longer be available. Also makes it a bit harder to rely on photos. The cocktails were really good though. Our server was amazing, super knowledgeable about the menu and gave great drink recommendations. We went as a group of 4, and most dishes came with 3 pieces, which made sharing a bit awkward. But he checked with the kitchen and was able to add an extra piece for us (for an additional charge), which we really appreciated. Would definitely come back! 👍
