Prior to an event at the Long Center, we roamed across the river to the 2nd St District in sunny Austin for a bite. My dinner choice of Gummie Bears at the Candy store was overruled...so we hit up Local Foods! The vibe here is great with 2 levels of seating as well as outdoor and to go options. Gal that took our order was efficient, friendly and helpful. The Fall Dinner menu was exceptionally unique...I had the Gulf Seafood PoBoy with Apple/Cranberry salad and red potato salad for sides. The potato salad is now my 2nd favorite, but will never surpass my #1 fave which is my dead Mom's specialty--just dont tell her! The PoBoy was not the typical fake crab, small shrimp and an overload of mayo. This was phenomenal. The fresh dill in the potato salad took it up a notch. My other half had a waygu beef sandwich with Mexican flavors. Fantastic as well. Too and we didnt save room for the brown butter miso cookies or carrot cake. Great meal! Now on to see Nick Offerman with a fully satisfied stomach......

Appreciate all the vegan options! Great spot for brunch. The cashew queso was great, the chips had a lovely crunch, the tacoquiles was delicious with a bit of a kick. And the vegan carrot cupcake was yummy and not too sweet (except for the frosting of course). Will definitely eat here again!

I enGULFed my GULF seafood po’boy and licked my fingers clean. The day I get an item other than that heavenly sandwich is the day my spirit withers. Top 3 sandwiches, I promise you. Even my mom likes it and she generally doesn’t like sandwiches! My friend’s salmon poke bowl was fresh and tasted pretty good but NOTHING WILL TOP THE GULF. You get 2 sides or a soup with your sandwich. The kale salad is alright, the potato chips are crisp but flavorless, and their fruit is usually macerated very well. I like their winter fruit salad and their ginger strawberries. Their seasonal lemongrass chicken soup was fantastic, but I’d avoid their classic chicken posolé, as it was unbearably salty. Service was wonderful- I asked if I could switch out my salty soup to a different side and they kindly understood, with a smile and smalltalk too!

We have walked by this place dozens of times, but we never really thought to try it out until this morning. We entered the space, and we were offered menus as soon as we walked through the door. The variety of main dishes and sides was ample. We were originally on the hunt for a breakfast sandwich, and we found so much more. The space is large and bright, and pretty busy - but not overwhelmingly so. We ordered at the counter, and took a seat toward the back. Our party of four had no trouble finding a table. The food took about 10 minutes to arrive, and it looked good before it even got to the table. Thumbs up all around for the Lil Nasty breakfast sandwich, breakfast plate, and the Avacado BLT w/ egg on sour dough. The avacado was freshly sliced and generous, tomato was cool and crisp, stacked lettuce leaves gave the sandwich excellent texture, and the bacon was crisp and hearty. The was kind of an afterthought...I really enjoyed it. The Hangover Potato's were really great, not sure what they did in terms of preparation, but they were unique in taste and texture. Very good. Also, one of my sides was sliced strawberries. Normally a ho-hum side, but this place upped the ante by including chopped basil with the strawberries - game changer! The whole experience was great and definitely going back next time I'm in Austin. Our only bother was the volume level of the music...seemed a little loud, but the general clientele were probably on their 20s and 30s, so probably more to their liking. If you are comfortable with a slightly quirky menu, then go for it! You won't be disappointed.
