Really enjoyed the chicken Marsala meal! I couldn't believe it was only $13! The serving size was smaller than typical restaurant portions, but it was the right amount for me as the typical portions are too much. Our server was excellent. Very friendly and prompt. It was interesting to see the decor and architecture of the oldest bar in Philly.

Have been to this place every time I'm have come to Philly for 35 years. Love it, but always by myself for work. This time in town for a reunion. Came in 1 hour before world cup game, wanted a table for 6, but rest of party rolling in over next hour. Nope.. need everyone here. Really hate when bars & restaurants do this. Trust your customer and you will be rewarded with loyalty, repeat business & great reviews. People have been rolling in and table for 6 gone. They would have gotten same revenue from us, but decided a 1 star review from a 35 year customer was ok. Last time here for me. Told my group to meet elsewhere. Lots of other great choices in Philly.

Charming bar that everyone loves. The Christmas decorations were so cute and beautiful. The oldest bar with the best service. The fish and chips were so good. I had an egg nog martini that was amazing. You need to visit here, if for nothing else the charm and atmosphere.

A classic Irish Pub in the heart of Philly. A historic, must experience, Philadelphia bar. Rustic, raw, traditional pub grub and drink options you would expect. It's an ideal place to watch sports. The crowd is engaged with the game as you hear cheers throughout the night. We had wings and nachos which did the trick. It's noteworthy that you can get a stout but it will not be a Guinness. They have rightfully boycotted the brand for opening up Guinness sponsored pubs to complete against them. Good for them! I tried the O'Hara's stout but it wasn't for me. Avoid any highball cocktails bc the glass is full of ice and thimble sized. Order your whiskey neat. All said,it is my Philly home away from home! Unapologetically Philly through and through.

There’s a reason McGillin’s Olde Ale House has been around since 1860. Places don’t survive that long unless they’re doing something very right, and this one absolutely is. It’s a little tricky to find at first since you enter through an alley, but that just adds to the charm. The bar has been there so long the city grew up around it, and once you step inside you can feel the history. We stopped in for lunch and started with the fried Brussels sprouts, one of their specialties. I would never normally order Brussels sprouts, but I’m so glad I did here—they were crispy, flavorful, and excellent. I had the open-faced roast beef sandwich, which was classic, hearty, and done right. My wife had the shepherd’s pie, which was comforting and filling, exactly what you want in a place like this. We also had a couple of craft beers, and even with that, the bill was shockingly reasonable—about what you’d pay at a fast-food restaurant. For the quality of the food, the beer selection, and the atmosphere, it’s an incredible value. McGillin’s Olde Ale House is authentic, welcoming, and timeless. I can’t recommend it highly enough. If you’re in Philadelphia, this is a must-stop.
