Gerald Jacquot a month agoFixins Soul Kitchen in Tulsa during the Black Wall Street Rally 2026 definitely lived up to the hype. We had a large group of 25+ people, and even though they were packed with a line outside, they got us seated quickly and kept everything moving smoothly. Our waitress was outstanding — great personality, quick with the orders, attentive, and made the whole experience enjoyable. Even with the restaurant being swamped, the food came out extremely fast. The fish nuggets were awesome with great flavor. The shrimp and grits had really good seasoning, a large portion, and about 5 jumbo shrimp on top. The collard greens reminded me of home cooking. The red beans and rice were a little different from what I’m used to — a bit drier instead of creamy — but they still had good flavor for their style. Adult Kool-aid was also good Overall, great atmosphere, excellent service, delicious soul food, and our entire group seemed happy. Great job by the whole staff!
Angell Scott (Eternal Sunshyne) 4 months agoFrom the moment we walked in, the service made us feel so welcomed and cared for. The music truly set the tone for the entire experience—smooth R&B and hip-hop vibes during Saturday brunch, and uplifting Gospel on Sunday that just wrapped the whole atmosphere in comfort and joy. Every bite of food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. We were visiting Tulsa for a historical trip and enjoyed our meal here so much on Saturday that we made it a point to come back again for Sunday brunch. The waffles were perfectly prepared, the grits were creamy and comforting, and the omelette was wonderfully seasoned with a generous serving size. The sweet potatoes were easily a favorite—they weren’t overly sweet, just perfectly balanced with seasoning that made every bite memorable and the house potatoes were perfectly seasoned too. Everything we tried was simply amazing, and this will definitely be a place we visit again and again whenever we’re in town.
OK Traveler (OK Traveler) a month agoA lot of hype, not at lot of flavor. My hopes were really high upon hearing if this place but here is why: We had a table of nine so there were nine different plates to go around and really get a good sense of the menu and quality. For us nine, it was not there. It was missing flavor. The food looked good and the portions were huge but I was specially disappointed with my chicken and waffles, a dish hard to mess up and yet it was bad. The waffle I guess went on a diet because it was thin and not crunchy. In fact, it became soggy really fast. The chicken was breaded alright but it had no other taste other than chicken from KFC. No seasoning. And that was true for the other people in our table who ordered some chicken. Service: from the beginning I saw a horrible flaw in the reception! Reception takes sooooo long to check people in. It should be as easy as: "how many? Okay it be in 20 minutes, we will text you" !Next!" But no poo. It was a disappointing looking 5 minutes just to get people checked in. It took them almost 20 minutes to get to us. There is no reception area. If you plan to take that long, the the reception area should have been bigger and accommodating for people to seat and wait. There is nothing but a few seats! If today had been over 90 degrees we would have burned waiting for out table. Here is a more sensitive note. My wife is half black and I am full Hispanic. The way we were looked at from employees as well as people visiting was very judgemental, and ironically there was a hat on display with the quote to " Make America Not Racist Again" this restaurant as well as the whole are of downtown was supposedly dedicated to en racism and help all to become kind and loving toward one another no matter who they are but quite frankly, I felt the opposite. How sad. I get that we need to correct what happened in the past, but one must not over correct because we end up back where we started. Atmosphere: the atmosphere was beautiful and it makes you feel fun! The DJ was on top playing some awesome music make NG the experience 10 times better! I enjoyed it very much.
Thomas Brey 4 months agoThis place hits 5 stars are every level. From the minute you walk through the door until you leave. The atmosphere is causal restaurant and bar area. Very elegant decor. The hostess and the manager were friendly and amazing. We were checked on the right amount times. You didn't feel like they was badgering and rushing but enough you aways had what you needed. The food was prepared faster than the McDonald's down the street. That kitchen is on point period. Now the best part that food. We had the fried green tomatoes. Let me tell you them was fire. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy just like momma made on Sunday. Then the red beans and rice was cooked perfectly fluffy rice with red beans with just a kick. There is hot sauce on the table if you want more. Now the star of the dinner them Collard Greens. I died and went someone grandma house from Alabama or Georgia. The absolute best I have ever had. They so good you will drink the broth at the end. My suggestion get a double of them. This is a must go period.
Robert Wheeler 7 months agoToday was our first time to eat at Fixin's. I think we found a new favorite place to eat in Tulsa. The food was absolutely amazing and our order came out faster than we had expected. The fried green tomatoes were the best fried tomatoes I have ever eaten, including those I ate while in Alabama. The biscuits and gravy were, in my opinion the best I have ever had in a restaurant. My daughter ordered the fried chicken and it was also amazing. Ther service was absolutely top tier and we never had to ask for anything. I had half my sweet tea, also amazing, drank when they brought me a second. Our server was super friendly and attentive the entire time were seated. The atmosphere was wonderful and relaxed and the location was wonderful. We will be coming back and eating again. The prices that we paid were very reasonable given the quality of food and service that we experienced at Fixin's. Overall, our experience was pleasant and enjoyable.
